Our Commitment to Sustainability
Sustainability is woven into everything we do at Conklin Office, from our daily operations and workplace practices to our partnerships and community engagement. We actively minimize our ecological footprint while contributing to the local economy through initiatives focused on renewable energy, waste reduction, and a circular economy.

Key Impact Areas

Circular Economy
Extending product lifecycles through reuse, remanufacturing, and recycling

Social Equity & Inclusion
Supporting responsible business practices and a more sustainable workforce

Ecosystem & Climate Health
Reducing carbon emissions and preserving natural resources
Powered by Renewable Energy
Conklin Office is powered by clean, renewable energy from Holyoke Gas & Electric, which supplies 38% hydro-renewable energy to its customers.
Our 300,000-square-foot facility is equipped with 2,600 solar panels, generating more energy yearly than we consume.
- In 2024, our solar panels generated over 877,000 kWh of clean energy, preventing 614 tons of carbon emissions, which is equivalent to planting 10,140 trees.
- We produce 30% more energy than we use, supplying excess clean power back to the grid.
- Since installation, our solar panels have generated over 7 million kWh, reducing 4,900 tons of carbon emissions, enough to power 650 U.S. homes for an entire year.

Reducing Waste & Recycling Initiatives

We use blankets when padding furniture for transport, reducing our use of single-use plastics, excess waste, and embedded carbon.

We recycled 6,930 pounds of plastic film in our first shipment to Trex, preventing unnecessary waste through the NexTrex Recycling Program.

100% of our fabric, shrink wrap, cardboard, and scrap metal are recycled, keeping valuable materials in circulation.

Sustainable Partnerships
We collaborate with industry leaders to strengthen our efforts in the circular economy and waste diversion programs.
- NexTrex Recycling Program – Diverts post-consumer plastic waste from landfills and waterways, transforming it into eco-friendly outdoor decking.
- RecyclingWorks Massachusetts – A state-funded program helping small businesses improve waste reduction, recycling, and material reuse.
- Cyntex Partnership – Transforms discarded fabrics and textiles into insulation, carpeting, or new garments, contributing to a circular economy and conserving resources by keeping materials in use.
Waste reduction activities help decrease environmental impact, save money, improve employee morale, and meet customer demand for sustainable business practices. Our efforts have increased waste diversion to 92%, up from 84% the previous year.
