Routine Cleaning

Maintain your furniture’s surface with these easy steps:

  • Equipment: Damp cloth or sponge, mild soap or detergent.
  • Steps: Wipe the surface with soapy water, rinse with warm water, and dry with a clean cloth.
  • Frequency: Safe for daily cleaning.

Removing Difficult Stains

Tackle stubborn stains with these methods:

  • Coffee or Tea: Use a mild household cleaner and a soft-bristled brush. Repeat as needed.
  • Persistent Stains: Apply a baking soda and water paste with a soft-bristled brush. Scrub lightly (10-20 strokes) to avoid damaging glossy finishes.
  • Stubborn Stains: Apply undiluted household bleach or nail polish remover. Let it sit for 2 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm water and dry. Repeat if the stain fades without discoloring the laminate. Warning: Prolonged exposure to bleach will discolor the surface. Use sparingly.

Protecting Your Furniture

Prevent damage with these precautions:

  • Heat: Always use a heat shield, hot pad, or trivet under hot pans or appliances (e.g., electric skillets). Direct heat can cause cracking or blistering.
  • Spills: Wipe up spills immediately, especially those containing hair, textiles, food dyes, or harsh chemicals (e.g., drain cleaners, rust removers, toilet bowl cleaners)—then rinse with water multiple times.
  • Work Surfaces: Avoid using oven cleaners or cutting directly on unprotected laminate surfaces.

What to Avoid

Protect your Conklin Office furniture by avoiding these:

  • Acidic/Abrasive Cleaners: Can damage laminate surfaces.
  • Steel Wool or Abrasive Pads: Will scratch and leave rust stains.
  • Harsh Chemicals: Do not use products containing:
    • Hydrochloric Acid (Muriatic Acid)
    • Sulfuric Acid (Oleic Acid)
    • Hydrofluoric Acid (Rust Remover)
    • Phosphoric Acid (Rust Remover)
    • Sodium Hydroxide (Caustic Soda)
    • Pumice (Abrasive)
  • Note: Spills of these chemicals will permanently damage Gateway Products’ Laminate if not wiped off and rinsed immediately.
