Reman Day 2023: A day to advance the remanufacturing industry
It's Reman Day! Global Reman Day, sponsored by the Remanufacturing Industries Council™, is a day celebrated annually to advance the remanufacturing industry through remanufacturer-hosted events and workforce development initiatives. Hundreds of remanufacturers around the world celebrate Reman Day by hosting events dedicated to raising awareness about remanufacturing and its benefits to the environment and economy.
This day is especially exciting for us this year, as we're now officially a Steelcase Answer® remanufacturer! We've specialized in remanufacturing Steelcase Avenir® workstations for decades; now, we're utilizing our knowledge and capabilities to expand our catalog towards remanufactured Steelcase Answer® products.
To celebrate #RemanDay2023, we're highlighting our various eco-remanufacturing departments and operations:
Our panel reupholstery department rehabilitates the panels and screens used to make up cubicles, workstations, and partitions. Throughout the reupholstery process, the trim is removed and repainted with your color of choice. The panels are stripped of their textiles and replaced with your selected fabric. Old fabrics are collected and sent off to our recycling partners. We specialize in Eco-Remanufactured™ Steelcase Avenir® and Steelcase Answer® cubicles. However, we are able to refurbish panels from many other manufacturers as well. Some of our current panel fabric providers include CF Stinson, Guilford of Maine, and Burch Fabrics.
We’ve utilized powder coating to repaint pre-owned office furniture for decades. The "powder" in powder coating is comprised of finely ground particles of pigment and resin. The charged powder particles are sprayed onto the electrically grounded surfaces while heated in a curing process where they adhere. This process makes used office furniture look and feel like new with a hard, durable surface that will last for years.
Powder coating is the most environmentally sound method used to paint office furniture. Liquid finishes contain solvents that have pollutants known as volatile organic compounds (VOC's). VOC’s have been linked to ozone depletion and global climate concerns, as well as directly polluting the air we breathe. Powder coating contains no solvents and releases negligible amounts of VOC’s into the atmosphere. Additionally, powder overspray that does not adhere to the furniture can be retrieved and reused, greatly decreasing the level of waste.
Our laminate department restores and upgrades the appearance of existing used office furniture or builds custom surfaces for the most detailed design specifications. Our focus is to produce a quality final product that will give you years of functional, stylish, and cost-effective service. Many preowned office furniture tops that come through our warehouse have the laminate stripped and recovered to give them a fresh, updated look. We offer worksurface selections made from 100% post-consumer recycled materials, and our adhesive is GreenGuard Certified.
We’ve been refinishing wood and improving the quality of desks, tables, and chairs since the beginning of our furniture refurbishing journey. Our in-house craftsmen possess the skill, patience, and eye for detail that's needed to revitalize a faded piece of office furniture into "like new" condition. Our wood finishing department completes a wide range of work on our products before they are shipped to our customers. They complete jobs of all shapes and sizes; from basic touch-ups on table legs, chair arms, and trim, to complete stripping and refinishing of conference room furniture, executive chairs, or similar pieces.
